The nose is such a prominent feature that really defines our faces, so its look is important to a lot of us. Sometimes we just want a subtle touch up here or there to make it look a little straighter or smoother. This is why we love PDO threads so much, because they’re so versatile and can be used for a variety of concerns, including giving our noses that more desirable shape.

Thread Lift Nose Job In a Nutshell

What is it?

The thread lift nose job re-shapes and re-positions the tissue in the nose non-surgically resulting in a smoother, straighter looking nose.

Who is it for?

Anyone looking to:

  • lift and straighten the nose
  • lift the tip of the nose
  • even out bumps or depressions in the nose

How It Works

Just like getting thread lifts on other parts of the face to give certain areas a more lifted look and collagen boost, the thread lift nose job involves strategically placing PDO threads just under the surface of the skin in order to manipulate the tissue to achieve the desired result. Only this time the PDO threads are inserted in and around the nose.

PDO threads are dissolvable threads that are typically used for suturing. They are inserted just below the surface of the skin where you wish to reshape or reposition tissue, and after about 6-9 months they will be naturally absorbed by your body.

Your result is maintained by the collagen that’s stimulated by your wound healing response when the threads are inserted, and it’s this collagen boost that will keep your result intact anywhere from a year or two following your treatment.

Two important things to note if you’re considering the thread lift nose job, is that while this treatment can effectively manipulate tissue and give the appearance of a straighter and smoother nose, or lift the tip of the nose, it is in no way a replacement for a “real” nose job or rhinoplasty procedure.

The thread lift nose job can’t actually change the structure of your nose. It can’t make it bigger or smaller, or address any other issues typically resolved with rhinoplasty, such as breathing problems or a deviated septum. The result you’ll see with a thread lift nose job is super effective for the right candidate, but it is subtle.

If you’re looking for a more dramatic transformation to the structure of your nose then you may want to consider rhinoplasty.

The other thing to note about the thread lift nose job is that we’ll often recommend combining it with non-surgical rhinoplasty, which is when we inject soft tissue filler into the nose. This will often really complete the look especially if a patient is looking to smooth out depressions or bumps in the nose.

That said, everyone is different, so we’ll let you know what we recommend in your particular case at your complimentary consultation with our thread lift nose job expert Dr. Chbat. If you’re interested in a thread lift nose job and you’ve previously had rhinoplasty then you’ll need to first be seen by Dr. Ahmad our rhinoplasty surgeon.

The Procedure

The thread lift nose job procedure is known as the “lunch time nose job” because it only takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, and requires minimal downtime. First, you’ll have a local anesthetic injected in order to numb the area and to ensure that you don’t feel any discomfort.

Once the area is numb, your doctor will use a fine needle or cannula to insert the threads just below the surface of the skin in strategic areas of the nose, tightening and repositioning the tissue in order to achieve the result that you’re looking for.

Depending on whether your treatment is combined with a liquid rhinoplasty, your doctor may then proceed to inject dermal filler into the nose as well, in order to really finish the look.

Is there any downtime?

The thread lift nose job requires minimal downtime. You may experience some swelling and bruising, and your nose may feel tender or sore immediately following your treatment. Your skin might also feel tight and it may mildly dimple, but most side effects should resolve themselves soon after your treatment, and shouldn’t last more than two weeks.

You can apply ice to the nose if you find it swollen, and take Tylenol to alleviate any mild discomfort after your treatment. You’ll also want to avoid putting pressure on the nose, we recommend that you sleep on your back only and avoid overly strenuous exercise for about two weeks.

Your doctor will share post-treatment guidelines with you to ensure you heal quickly and come out with the best result possible.

Is a thread lift nose job for you?

The thread lift nose job is great for anyone seeking a subtle improvement to the shape of the nose. The thread lift nose job is really about giving the nose a lift for a straighter appearance as well as adding mild contouring to the nose. It can also smooth out depressions and bumps when combined with a liquid rhinoplasty.

Again, we want to emphasize that you need to have realistic expectations, this treatment can’t dramatically change the structure or shape of your nose.

We also recommend this treatment to patients with good skin integrity.  The thread lift nose job is not ideal for patients with thin skin or any form of skin damage.

Who should not have a thread lift nose job?

You should not have a thread lift nose job if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have thin or sun damaged skin, if you have a viral infection, or an active infection at the treatment site, if you’ve previously had radiation to the nose, or if you have a known allergy to the threads being used.

When can I expect to see results?

You will see the results of your thread lift nose job immediately following your treatment. Your results will only continue to improve as your body begins to produce collagen around 4-6 weeks. The collagen produced by your body will ultimately be what maintains your results long after your PDO threads have dissolved at anywhere between 6-9 months.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Most individuals require one treatment and results will typically last approximately 18 months. We typically recommend yearly maintenance treatments to maintain your results.

Are there any risks?

The thread lift nose job is a minimally invasive and low risk treatment. Adverse reactions to the thread lift nose job are rare but possible, such as an allergic reaction, bleeding, infection, nerve damage, thread migration or nodule formation.

How much does it cost?

The price of a thread lift nose job starts at $1,500 but is really dependent on your particular anatomy and concerns. The price may also vary depending on whether we combine your thread lift nose job with a filler treatment. We’ll provide you with a firm quote during your complimentary consultation.
