We are super thrilled to be introducing the Forma skin tightening facial! Now this is one you may have heard of as it’s currently a big celebrity favourite, but it’s also one of the most effective skin rejuvenating treatments currently on the market, and a great treatment for pretty much anyone.

So what’s all the hype around the Forma facial? Read on to find out more about this radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening treatment and how it can benefit your skin.

What is the Forma Facial?

The Forma facial is a non-invasive targeted skin tightening facial using bi-polar radiofrequency technology. Like at the centre of most skin rejuvenating treatments, the goal is to stimulate collagen production, which is responsible for keeping the skin tight and firm.

When the skin is heated up to a certain degree, the wound healing response in the body is awoken, which stimulates the body into producing collagen, ultimately resulting in a tightened, lifted, and more contoured look of the face. Radiofrequency heat equally works to contract the tissue just below the surface of the skin, which is what also contributes to an overall tightened and lifted result.

The Forma facial is particularly effective at targeting areas around the cheekbones, brow bone, the nasolabial folds, as well as around the jaw, and for addressing fine lines that might appear around the mouth and nose.

Who is the Forma Facial for?

The Forma facial is literally great for anyone. Younger patients love it for the brightness and definition that it adds to the skin and face, and older patients love how it can lift and tighten the skin.

The main benefit of the Formal facial is skin tightening but it’s not just targeted to individuals with a lot of skin laxity. This is a great treatment for anyone who is looking to maintain their existing skin integrity. We love it as part of a package of 6 treatments or simply for a quick glow up prior to a special event.

Does the Forma Facial hurt?

No. When you get the Forma Facial, what you’ll feel is something akin to a hot face massage, but not pain. The wand used for the treatment is set at 109 degrees, which sounds hot, for sure, but your provider will adjust the settings on the wand to ensure that it’s at a tolerable temperature depending on the areas of the face that are being targeted. Some areas are more sensitive than others.

A numbing gel is not typically required for this treatment, but if you have sensitive skin, this is something that can be applied to alleviate any discomfort.

Is there any downtime?

The Forma facial takes about 30 minutes and there is no downtime. Some patients might find that their face is red following the treatment due to the heat, but this typically subsides within about an hour of your session.

Results can also be seen immediately. Your skin will look glow-y and firmer after just one treatment (love that). However if we are targeting skin laxity and looking for a real contraction of the tissue then we recommend a series of 6 treatments, one week apart. After the initial series of 6 treatments we recommend maintenance treatments 4 times per year.
