Up until recently, there was no way to target stubborn pockets of fat non-surgically. There were many companies claiming it was possible, but the results were just not there. Then, a group of Harvard scientists discovered that fat was extremely sensitive to cold, and pioneered a device that could kill fat cells, while maintaining the health and integrity of the surrounding tissue. CoolSculpting is non-invasive fat reduction, designed to treat those stubborn pockets resistant to diet and exercise. These areas include the chin, arms, back, abdomen, flanks, thighs, knees, and buttocks.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting works by freezing unwanted fat cells under the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue and allows for the fat to be naturally broken down and eliminated from the body in the weeks that follow the treatment. Whereas exercise will only reduce these unwanted fat cells, CoolSculpting works to eliminate them altogether.

The Procedure

CoolSculpting is a very safe and comfortable treatment. It is entirely non-invasive, meaning that it requires no injections, anesthesia, or incisions. The procedure takes approximately 1 hour and is performed by trained registered nurses and medical aestheticians under the supervision of our expert doctors.

During the procedure a hand-held device is placed on the target areas of fat reduction and controlled cooling is applied. Patients can just sit back and relax, read, watch tv, or even take a nap.

The procedure takes place at one of our state-of-the-art CoolSculpting facilities, where you will have access to complimentary wifi, Netflix, and if you forgot it at home or don’t have your own, we will also provide you with an iPad and headphones.

Our facilities are beautifully appointed and we love to spoil our patients with delicious food and beverages as well as comfy pillows in order to assure that you have the most pleasant experience possible.

You do not need to make any special preparations before the treatment and most patients feel entirely comfortable returning to work or their daily routines following the procedure.

Is CoolSculpting for you?

Your first step is to book an in-person complimentary consultation with one of our expert doctors, in order to discuss your end goals and to physically assess whether you are a good candidate for the treatment.

CoolSculpting is most likely the treatment for you if you are a woman or man that maintains a healthy weight and whose skin has still retained its firmness and elasticity. It is an ideal treatment for patients who have pockets of unwanted fat they wish to eliminate, but where the amounts of fat are relatively minimal.

Patients of any age can be treated with CoolSculpting, however the procedure could be less effective for older patients due to the loss of skin firmness and elasticity that comes with aging.

What are the most effective areas best treated with CoolSculpting?

In order for CoolSculpting to be effective, it is best to target the areas that are most responsive to the treatment. Excess fat found under the chin, in the upper neck, under the arms, on the back, on the abdomen, the flanks, thighs, knees, buttocks and under the buttocks, are where fat elimination will be most successful.

When can I expect to see results?

Some people notice results very soon after treatment, but it can take anywhere from 1 to 4 months to see the full effects of CoolSculpting as you need to allow your body time to break down and eliminate the targeted fat cells.

CoolSculpting is a fat reduction treatment not a procedure for weight loss so it is important that you have realistic expectations of what the procedure can do for you. The procedure works to sculpt and contour your body to give it a more balanced and healthy look, but it will not drastically transform your appearance.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Many patients see results after just one treatment, and others may require multiple sessions in order to enhance those results. We tend to see about a 20% reduction per treatment. For some people, 20% is enough, and others may have more fat to treat. Whether or not you will need more than one treatment is also dependent on how many areas you might be looking to treat and how much fat there is in the targeted areas. This will be assessed during your complimentary consultation with one of our expert doctors.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects include numbness and tingling in the treatment area. If you experience more discomfort than this, call us right away and we can prescribe a cream to treat this sensation. Binding the area with a tight compression garment alongside massaging the area also seems to help to relieve any discomfort. But any sensation beyond tingling is typically unusual.

During the procedure itself you may experience some numbness and sensations of pulling, pinching, or tugging.

After the procedure the area might feel numb, tingle or sting, and you might notice redness, swelling, and bruising.

What are the risks?

Because CoolSculpting is non-surgical the procedure does not carry any long-term risks. There is no risk to damaging any surrounding tissue because fat cells are not water-based and therefore freeze at much higher temperatures than other tissue.

How much does it cost?

The cost of CoolSculpting is dependent on how many areas need to be treated and how many treatments you might need. With your CoolSculpting Specialist you will decide on a custom plan tailored to your specific needs and which will be based on the results that you are looking to attain.
