Dorota Jakobczyk
February 19th, 1964 – February 13th, 2024

To our wonderful community of patients,

On February 13th, Dorota passed away peacefully in the hospital, awaiting a lung transplant. Dorota suffered from a rare condition for which there is no known cure. Her passing is an enormous loss for her family, friends, patients and colleagues – we will forever cherish her compassion and courage.

Dorota was a gentle, warm soul who will be remembered for her quiet wit and adventurous spirit. She had a true zest for life, which she shared with her husband Dariusz: hiking, biking and travelling throughout Canada and beyond.

We bid farewell to Dorota on February 21st in a funeral service at her church, St. Maximilian Kolbe. She was surrounded by her friends, family, and colleagues.

In Loving Memory: Dorota’s Garden

We know how painful and shocking this news was for Dorota’s patients. We would like to invite you to participate in a project we are taking on in her honour, the establishment of Dorota’s Garden. The garden will be erected in the backyard of the clinic at 1421 Hurontario Street. We have a small committee of colleagues who are helping to get this project underway.

Dorota loved gardening and cooking with fresh vegetables. Our plan is to grow roses, vegetables, herbs and other flowers, as well as to build a lending library and install a few chairs so that we can gather together, share stories and remember our dear friend in a peaceful space dedicated to her.

If you wish to contribute to or participate in the building of Dorota’s Garden, please reach out to us at [email protected]
