Have you ever received such amazing care that you wanted to show your appreciation… maybe with a big hug or a heartfelt thank you? Sometimes, the instinct is to leave a tip. But in the world of cosmetic and medical aesthetics, the rules around tipping can feel unclear.

So… should you tip your injector after Botox? What about your aesthetician after a facial? Let’s break it down.

Understanding Roles: Who’s Who in a Clinic?

At medspas, beauty clinics, and surgical offices, there’s often a mix of healthcare professionals and beauty experts, all with distinct scopes of practice. Understanding who does what can help guide your tipping decisions.

Healthcare Professionals (No Tipping Expected)

  • Medical Doctors (MDs): Physicians who oversee or perform procedures, including dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Tipping doctors is not customary and often not permitted.
  • Nurse Practitioners (NPs): Licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat patients. NPs may run clinics or provide injectables.
  • Registered Nurses (RNs) & Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs): Often assist in medical treatments and may be certified as injectors. They’re still considered healthcare professionals.

Bottom line: If your treatment is performed by a licensed medical provider (MD, NP, RN, RPN), tipping is not expected—and often not accepted.

Cosmetic Practitioners (Sometimes Tipped)

  • Medical Aestheticians: Specialize in non-invasive cosmetic treatments such as facials, laser therapy, skin tightening, and chemical peels. Some may accept tips, especially in non-medical settings.
  • Estheticians: Focus on skincare and beauty treatments like waxing, facials, and massage. Tipping is more common here, particularly in spa environments.

So, Who Should You Tip?

If you’re seeing a medical professional—such as an injector, nurse, or physician—tipping is not part of the equation. They are fairly compensated for their work and operate within a clinical setting.

If your provider is a medical aesthetician or esthetician, you may have the option to tip, though it’s never required. Think of it the same way you might approach a facial at a spa: a tip is a nice gesture, but it shouldn’t be expected or prompted.

At MD Beauty Clinic, we do not accept tips of any kind—whether surgical or non-surgical. Our team members are paid fairly, and your trust, loyalty, and referrals mean more than any gratuity ever could.

“But I Really Want to Say Thank You…”

We hear this a lot and we love how much our patients want to give back. While we don’t allow tipping, many patients show their appreciation in other ways:

  • Leave a Review: Your kind words go a long way and help others find providers they can trust.
  • Refer a Friend: Nothing says “thank you” like sending someone you care about our way.
  • A Thoughtful Note or Treat: We’ve had patients bring in baked goods or small tokens around the holidays. While never expected, these gestures are always appreciated.

Gratitude Doesn’t Have to Come in an Envelope

In an industry that blends wellness, beauty, and medicine, tipping culture can be tricky. But we believe in keeping things simple and sincere. At MD Beauty Clinic, we don’t accept tips. We’ll never make you feel like you should.

Your results, your experience, and your confidence are the greatest thanks we could ask for.
